Busy Week

I don't know why I'm having so much trouble getting text to appear between these photographs
. I put the photos in this blog  with my computer tutor's help (because I'm still having trouble getting used to the Google-photos program). I'd planned to add the text later, (and I am doing so) but it's very frustrating. I even deleted one of my favorite photos by mistake, and can't remember how to find it again to replace it.

(It rather puts me off the idea of doing a blog at all, but I know if I keep trying, it will get easier!)

So I will just go ahead and say something about the photos which remain.  The top one (obviously) shows some beautiful clouds and very blue sky, over the Superstition Mountains, taken from just east of the Apache Junction library, on Tuesday.

The second photo shoes a piece of needlework done by one of the members of my "beading, handwork and embroidery" blog, on Saturday the 10th.The rabbit design is original, not purchased. As always, around 7-8 women attended, and all very friendly.

The third photo shows one of the five large bags of non-recyclable items which I saved up for a couple of months.
The bag is in front of one of the large containers at the dump. If all you take to the dump is household trash, you can place it in these containers, which are by the entrance, and you don't have to drive up on the "dust mountain" and cower between large garbage trucks as you throw away your stuff.

The last photo shows me making phone calls at the Democratic office in Gilbert, about half an hour away from my house. The purpose of this first round of calls is to recruit more volunteers, because the strategy is that the only way Arizona has any chance of "going blue" is to have a lot of people helping to get out the vote.

I actually dislike making the phone calls intensely, which increases how virtuous I feel when I've done a few hours. Sort of like Daddy's story about the man who hit himself on the head with a hammer because it felt so good when he stopped.

I have been trying to do the calls for at least three hours a day during weekdays, but today, tomorrow and Sunday I want to try to get a lot of cleaning done as we are giving that big party on the 23rd. I hope to get the cleaning done this weekend, to save time during the week for cooking, practicing the dance and songs I will be performing at the party, and yard-work.

Dale Sr. got out the power mower yesterday, and shaved the back-yard grass down to a bald half-inch, because that's how he feels it should be at a party. (Usually it's just me and the push-mower, which leaves the grass at around three inches.) I was glad because it showed that he had firmly in his mind that the party was coming up.

I would really like this to be the first party I've ever had where I'm not still frantically setting up as people are arriving!
